Thousands of neighbors and friends poured through the doors for two days of events that provided fun, entertainment and education. On Saturday, November 22, we hosted the Source Campaign Patron Dinner and Red Light Source. CuDC Board President Michael Abrams, Source Theatre Company’s Producing Artistic Director Emeritus Pat Murphy Sheehy, and Source Campaign Co-Chair Victor Shargai kicked off the dinner, which honored all of the generous supporters of the Source capital campaign. The Black Box theatre was swathed in white gauzy fabrics with guests surrounded by ambient green lighting and watching performances from Constellation Theatre Company, Washington Improv Theater and The In Series as well as go-go dancers Kate Arnold and Mark Chandler. The doors opened at 10 pm for Red Light Source, a dance party that featured Ganymede Arts’ Special Agent Galactica, roving “angels” and more! On Sunday November 23, an army of volunteers, performers and friends joined together for an all day celebration of the arts with workshops, classes and performances for all ages. Children had their faces painted and laughed at the comedic genius of Mark Jaster’s “Piccolo’s Trunk” while adults learned dance routines with Maru Montero Dance Company and Step Afrika!. Adventure Theater’s Light Saber training and Shakespeare Theatre Company’s Stage Combat workshops brimmed with kids and with adults who felt like kids again. Many thanks go out to all of you who were involved with making this event a smashing success. REINVENTING SOURCE CuDC’s film on the legacy of Source now available for viewing online.
